On 12-25-2021 at approximately 2:02 hours Union Fire along with its mutual aid auto alarm partners were dispatched for a fire alarm at the West Seneca Highway facility. During the original department pager alert, West Seneca Fire Dispatch started to recieve multiple calls by passer-by’s of a fire at the location. Union 9 responded and arrived first on scene within 4 minutes of the original dispatch. Upon arrival Union 9 reported heavy smoke, declared a working fire, and requested a FAST and additional engine. During the 360 Union 9 found heavy fire through the roof in a 300’ by 100’ rear section of the building in the C/D corner. Command was established including IC, fire operations chief, water supply chief, and safety officer. As multiple fire units arrived interior suppression operations were established using multiple 2 1/2 lines. At approximately 02:28 hours crews were removed from the building due to pending roof collapse reported as an urgent by Seneca Hose Ladder 6. PAR was established. Operations were adjusted to allow for ongoing interior and exterior (tower ladder) suppression tactics throughout the night. The bulk of the fire was extinguished by 0316 hours with extensive overhaul, salvage, and hot spot suppression required. Operations were established for overhaul/suppression, vehicle salvage, rehab, air supply, decon, hazmat, and EMS. Additional emergency units (listed below) were requested throughout the incident to support this large commerical fire operation and salvage of vehicles and equipment. Final crews left the scene at approximately 1100 hours this morning.
