Firefighters from Vigilant, Union, and East Seneca were alerted for a Commercial Structure Fire at 1700 Union Road. Union 9-1, who was driving on Union Road, noticed a significant amount of smoke coming from the area. Upon further investigation, Union 9-1 found a Working Commercial fire at a waste transfer facility. Union 9-1 Contacted WS Fire Dispatch. Vigilant, Union, East Seneca and South Line FAST Firefighters were alerted. Union 9 Arrived on scene and established command, giving a size-up of a 40x100 Commercial structure with heavy fire showing. Union Engine 1 was first on location with East Seneca Engine 2. Union Engine 1 crew went to work on opening a gate to the facility with a K12 saw. Vigilant 9-1 arrived on location and assumed command. Aerials were Requested from Reserve and Seneca Hose. Multiple Debris piles, Bobcats and Excavators were in the building. The roof of the structure was also compromised due to weakened roof trusses from fire load.
At 20:15 hours the fire was placed under control. Extensive overhaul was required, and lasted past 0000 Hours.
